Digitising an archive of old media for a school can be an incredibly valuable process, as it allows for the preservation and sharing of important historical records and memories. Old photos, videos, and other media can provide valuable insights into the school's history, culture, and traditions, and can be used to enrich current students' understanding of the school's legacy. Digitizing the archive makes it easily accessible, searchable, and shareable, and can help to ensure that these important records are not lost or damaged over time. It's important to work with a reputable digitization service to ensure the media is handled carefully and the digitization is of high quality. Once the archive is digitized, it can be stored on multiple devices and platforms for safekeeping and easy access, ensuring that future generations can benefit from the school's rich history.
We were asked to digitise the Media Archive at Yipirinya School containing thousands of various ancient media including film, video and audio cassette, photographs and print media. As this media ages so does the difficulty in retrieving the information into usable digital formats ready for every day use. Compounding the difficult task is the dwindling suppliers of reliable hardware to achieve the varying methods pertaining to each medium.
